Sunday School

Please join us for Sunday School opportunities for both kids and adults:

Kids will meet with rotating teachers to follow CPH's Growing in Christ curriculum.  Filled with stories, activities, and even a puppet, kids learn of the love of Christ for them, shown in His life, death, and resurrection.  The readings introduce Old Testament accounts during the season after Pentecost (Fall quarter), and follow the Gospel readings of the church lectionary during the Festival half of the church year (Winter and Spring quarters).  Each year, kids not only build their knowledge of God working in the lives of His people, but relive the entire life of Christ and His work for them.

Sunday School for kids begins with a Kickoff Sunday on September 13th, where they and their parents can get a better idea of what's presented in the lessons, and who's presenting them.  There will be treats, videos, and discussion.  They will even get a chance to meet Lilly, one of the Growing in Christ puppets who'll be with them all year.

Regular classes begin the following Sunday, September 20th, 2009.  Kids will meet with their teacher in the Fellowship Hall, immediately following the Divine Service each Sunday (approximately 10:45 am).  They'll be released each Sunday about 11:30 am, in plenty of time for lunch at home.

Adults
meet all year long, with varying opportunities for study which rotate about each calendar month.  Pastor Ferry leads an education time which is great for learning and discussion, and tries hard to have something for everyone.  Some months we're studying a book of the Bible, some months we're tracing a topic through the Scriptures, and some months we're learning more about who we are as Lutheran Christians and how our faith plays out in the world of everyday living.  Topics are announced in the bulletin and newsletters, and may include multimedia elements such as videos and PowerPoint slides.

We usually meet in the Fellowship Hall, where it's cooler in the summer, and there are often goodies/treats to enjoy while we discuss.  We begin as soon as Pastor gets downstairs after the Divine Service (usually around 10:50 am), and he makes every effort to conclude by 11:30 am.

This fall (2009) will give opportunities for us to study what we believe as Lutheran Christians, and how it varies from other Christian Denominations and other world religions.
